Özet

Bu çalışmanın konusu Türk ve Çin Mitolojisinde ortak mitolojik değerlerden biri olan Hayat Ağacı ve Kutsal Ağaçlardır. Dünyanın ilk anlarından itibaren ağaçlar, insanlarda çok önemli bir yere sahip olmuştur. Her iki toplum da Hayat Ağacının dünyanın merkezinde olduğunu düşünmüşlerdir. O yüzden Hayat Ağacına, “dünyanın merkezi” anlamı yüklenmiştir. Ağaçların mevsime göre değişmesi, meyveler vermesi, yeraltında köklerinin; yeryüzünde de dallarının olması insanları her açıdan düşündürmüştür. Kimi toplumlar ağaçtan geldiklerini düşünerek onu yaratıcı olarak görmüş, kimi toplumlar ise yeraltı ve yeryüzüne ulaşması nedeniyle onun tanrıya ulaşmada bir aracı olduğunu düşünmüştür. Tarih boyunca insanlar birçok ağaç türüne kutsal anlamlar yükleyerek o ağaçları Kutsal Ağaç olarak kabullenmişlerdir. Bu çalışmada ağaçların insanlardaki önemine değinilmiş, Türk ve Çin Mitolojilerindeki Hayat Ağacı ve Kutsal Ağaçlar ele alınarak özellikleri anlatılmıştır. Ağaçların kutsal sayılma nedenlerinin üzerinde durularak efsanelerinden ve ağaçlara yüklenen anlamlardan bahsedilmiş ve iki toplumun da ağaca yaklaşımı ele alınarak ağaçların hangi durumlarda ön plana çıktığı örneklendirilmiştir.

Abstract

The subject of this paper is the Tree of Life and the Sacred Trees, one of the common mythological values in Turkish and Chinese Mythology. From the first moments of the world, trees were very important place to humans. Both communities thought that the Tree of Life was at the center of the world. For this reason, the tree of life had been elevated to mean “the center of the World”. Trees change according to season, giving fruits, roots of underground; The fact that there are branches on earth has made people think in every aspect. Some societies thought they came from the tree of life and saw it as the creator while some societies thought the tree of life was an instrument to reach God because it reached the ground and the earth. Throughout history, people have accepted different species of trees as holy trees by loading sacred meanings to these trees. In this paper the importance of trees to people has been mentioned. Particularly, Turkish and Chinese mythologies of the Tree of Life and holy trees were discussed. The reason while trees are considered to be sacred and their legendary meanings have also been discussed. The approach of the two communities to the tree has been discussed and the situations in which the trees come to the forefront has been exemplified.
